We have all heard of New Years resolutions, but I was thinking… how about travel resolutions? I tend to gravitate to the same type of vacations (think sun and sand) and stay in the same type of hotel. Vacations are a great time to switch things up and try something new. For example, if you tend to do “touristy” things, why not resolve to spend some time eating where the locals eat or shop? If you are an over packer (and who isn’t?) how about limiting your luggage? If you’re a planner, maybe be a bit more spontaneous. As I gave thought to travel resolutions, I was thinking about planning a trip somewhere out of my vacation comfort zone – maybe trying a not so warm and sunny destination. Then I decided in this case I’ll start small – dine where the locals dine or change my hotel. Caribbean here I come… Jill Liberman

Hi Kirsten,
You would be fun to travel with! I agree with you- finding those tucked away spots really add to the travel experience and add so much to the trip!

I love finding the off the wall places that people like. When I travel, I’m likely to hit the tourist hot spots. But I really love knowing about that certain little diner or that art gallery tucked away or a park or lake that I should know about.
